The final agreement between developers and the Corporation of St George for a marina to be built in the harbour has been signed.
Quinell Francis, the Mayor of St George’s, hopes that legislation paving the way for the development will be laid before Parliament in the coming session and work could begin at the start of 2016 once proposals have gone through the planning process.

Hundreds turned out in St George’s to celebrate the official opening of the America’s Cup Endeavour Programme, which is anticipated to leave a lasting legacy. Gombey Dancers opened the day’s events with an impressive performance in King’s Square before part of the crowd made its way to the TS Admiral Somers Building — home to the St George’s unit of the Bermuda Sea Cadets Corps as well as the new official home of the America’s Cup Endeavour Community Sailing Programme.

A frozen yoghurt store is to open a branch in St George’s — with its doors opening around the Cup Match weekend.
Yo Cherry owner Carlos Francis — who opened his first store in Hamilton in 2013 — said public demand had led to the move.
Mr Francis, a former building contractor who branched out after the recession hit, added: “The folks there have been asking us from day one to open up there as well.”

From market-stall beginnings Saltwater Jewellery Design has flourished to the point where it now enjoys a prime position in St George’s key retail area, Water Street, just a few steps from King’s Square — the heart of the Olde Town.
And the business’s improving fortunes appear to be in step with a brightening outlook for the town, which during the past decade suffered the double hit of the economic recession and the loss of regular visits by cruise ships.
Owner Kelli Thompson is in no doubt that things are on the up, both for her shop and the town.

The St. George’s Beach Bus is up and running, while the St. David’s Beach Bus is set to launch in mid-July, offering visitors and locals easy access to east end attractions.
Pat Phillip-Fairn, the Bermuda Tourism Authority’s Chief Product & Experience Officer, said, “We are pleased to see the St. George’s Beach Bus get up and running because it fills a customer service gap in the visitor experience.”
