From market-stall beginnings Saltwater Jewellery Design has flourished to the point where it now enjoys a prime position in St George’s key retail area, Water Street, just a few steps from King’s Square — the heart of the Olde Town.
And the business’s improving fortunes appear to be in step with a brightening outlook for the town, which during the past decade suffered the double hit of the economic recession and the loss of regular visits by cruise ships.
Owner Kelli Thompson is in no doubt that things are on the up, both for her shop and the town.

The St. George’s Beach Bus is up and running, while the St. David’s Beach Bus is set to launch in mid-July, offering visitors and locals easy access to east end attractions.
Pat Phillip-Fairn, the Bermuda Tourism Authority’s Chief Product & Experience Officer, said, “We are pleased to see the St. George’s Beach Bus get up and running because it fills a customer service gap in the visitor experience.”

In addition to hosting Steven Spielberg’s $200 million super-yacht, the east end is presently playing host to a bevy of sailboats who have stopped in Bermuda as part of the World Cruising Club Spring Rallies.
Yachts sailing under the flags of 20 different nations and crews from many more, set sail from Tortola in the British Virgin Islands on May 9th for their offshore adventures in the ARC Europe and ARC USA.

Mayor of St. George’s Quinell Francis officially opened the King’s Square Restrooms in a ceremony held last week, saying that while they have retained the historic aspects of the building’s exterior the interior is “very modern and first class.”
Mayor Francis said, “This is a very special occasion, where we get to open our first class facility. On behalf of the Corporation of St. George’s, the members, myself, all of our councilours, we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who assisted in ensuring this project was carried to fruition.”
