Dear Town Members,

We are happy to keep you informed about the work our team has undertaken to support and enhance the town.  To stay updated, you are invited to attend the monthly General Council Meetings held on the fourth Thursday of every month. Our report is presented to the Council during these meetings, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and share feedback during the public session.

Mural

The Council and its Town partners continue work on the Penno’s Wharf mural, which is evolving as a living work of art. By allowing the concept to grow and undergo refinements during the installation, we are ensuring the final piece truly captures the town’s spirit. While the community can see the progress, we look forward to sharing the completed vision at an official unveiling soon.

Love Songs for St. George

"I Just Called To Say I Love You" is a song by legendary artist Stevie Wonder. Some will not relate to this reference because it is too dated: the activity of calling, which few actually do anymore, and an artist who is not currently popular—though his global impact is undeniable. However, the sentiment of Stevie's lyrics transcends time and highlights a succinct element of true honesty: love.

If you don't know the song "Dream On" by rock legends Aerosmith, it's not about appreciating the best music of an era. Some say, "I discriminate!"—coded as "I only listen to reggae and cannot stand rock." Again, that is hate, not love. Most just say, "I like everything," expressing no passion or commitment to something that brings joy. In contrast, our love is made greater by sharing in someone else's passion—the happiness you bring by just showing up and being in the audience, as any parent can tell you on recital day.

Here in St. George's, showing up matters. Whether it's supporting our local merchants, attending community events at King's Square, or simply caring for our neighbors, love becomes real through action.

"I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton is a super ballad that just soars, with its 'bitter sweet memories.' A country song destined for greatness as a global love anthem. Love music transcends genres and borders; it is something that can be adored in any language, in any place on earth. Where something starts does not mean that is where it grows best. Dolly allowed Beyoncé to sing "Jolene"—not as a love story, but as a bridge for Beyoncé to bring "16 Carriages" into country music, resetting the storytelling of passion for one's craft. Our town, shaped by seven nations over centuries, understands this. Our heritage didn't stay where it started—it grew into something richer because we shared it, protected it, and let it evolve.

The story. Shared through generations so we remember that the heart is fragile, pain has lineage, but you can always be inspired to dream beyond the heartbreak. Loving music, as in real life, is to see past its presentation and let it capture your imagination and stir something special that builds a lifelong connection.

Love alone is sadness. Loving as community is caring.

Scoop The Poop

Dogs seek owners help in poop clean up. 

Dogs are adorable, but their poop is not. In our Town, maintaining a pristine appearance is crucial, and people remember cleanliness. Regrettably, we must address instances of carelessness.

While we love strolling with our canine companions, we do not enjoy having our staff clean up after them or guests being subjected to the smoosh of the odour-carrying clumps that leave a dreadful impression. We kindly request all dog owners to keep their pets on their leash and to be responsible and pick up after their pets when walking along Water Street, Ordnance Island, and King’s Square.

We had to implement a ban on dogs in our gardens, and we hope to avoid extending that ban to other public walking areas in the town.

UNESCO World Poetry Day is important to the town. It provides a moment of deep reflection for local children, allowing them to express their sense of belonging and communicate how they perceive their community.
